 Education System Reflects
Gold Rush Beginnings
.. a Great Place to Live, Work, and Raise a Family...
During the Gold Rush, small, private schools were held in the homes of the women teachers. In 1851, public schools were also opened in Calaveras County.
Today, our schools are among the finest in California. Our 8th grade achievement scores are well above the state average and our high school drop out rate is 13% lower than state average.
For an overview of our county's educational system and other educational resources, please visit the website of the Calaveras County Office of Education.
